Women, Can They Ever Keep It Real With Each Other?
Let’s keep it real here… men fall victim to the same mentality that has females bad-mouthing and feeling envy toward a better looking, smarter or more accomplished specimen than themselves. Unfortunately, women appear to get the shadier deal and reputation, since they tend to voice this “hatred” when given the opportunity. What is inherently the problem? Do women really feel that self-conscious when confronted with a beautiful and confident counterpart or have they been taught to turn their nose up at each other for the sake of attracting more attention to themselves? Yesterday’s On Blast question was intended to discuss three equally beautiful and hard-working female celebrities and our opinions on who was the more accomplished professional. What appeared to rear its head was a sense that women can appreciate beauty in other females, but they don’t like to feel that beauty in any way challenges who they are. It’s the old adage of “building them up to tear them down” that prevailed. Many of you mentioned how Jennifer Lopez slept her way to the top and is a talented ball-busting “ho”, while Halle Berry is stunning but could use some help in the self-esteem department. There were even comments that portrayed Beyonce as an airhead that can wow the crowds with her looks, but she should keep her pretty little mouth shut. Virtually all these comments came from women; Women who then turned and offered a positive comment following their spew of “hateration.” All said, I’m not judging anyone, I’m curious to know whether women see this pattern in themselves and whether they recognize that men tend to go for the woman who doesn’t appear shaken, stirred or frayed by her competition.

Body Beautiful for 2006
Our Body Beautiful campaign is still underway. Yesterday I got an official weigh-in at the doctor’s office and though it wasn’t the enormous weight loss I initially celebrated, it was definitely a step in the right direction. :::: Drum roll please! ::::: To date, I’ve lost a total of 13 pounds. I’ll admit that the workouts are getting easier on my body, but I’m certainly not in a position to say, “I love working out.” I don’t think that’s going to happen. What I am content about are the results. The plan has been simple. No carbs outside of breakfast. No junkfood – period. Plenty of veggies and proteins and a healthy dose of water. Combined with the strenuous cardio workouts, the pounds are being shed. Admittedly, it is much more difficult now than in my younger years, but summer 2006 cannot catch me with more gut than butt. What’s your success story to date?

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Carmen C. and the Cha-Cha Girls will be heading to La Maganette (sp) again tonight. Riding the coat tails of last week’s success, the girls (some with their respective dates) will party it up! Carmen will be making this dance party a monthly thing, so join-in and release some of that weeklong pressure. La Maganette features a tasty complimentary buffet and a great mix of Salsa, R&B – new and old school, Hip-Hop and even some 2-step action. The patrons are mature individuals, so don’t expect a thug to roll-up on you when you’re getting your groove on. I have to bow-out of this month’s party – I have a Tamia issue tonight… “A Stranger in My House.” La Maganette is located at the corner of 50th Street and 3rd Avenue.

On Blast
You’re out for the evening and are approached by a handsome/beautiful stranger. What key words or phrases would help set the tone to have you consider being intimate the first night? What can the stranger say or do to stop you in your tracks? Basically, what do you look for when considering a one-night or first-night stand?

Keep passin’ the open windows…

Ok first anonymous this blog was setup to cast our opinions. Whether or not we agree on them is our choice. But we are not here to call anyone any names at any time.

Now as far as your first comment Hector I am not intimidated by any woman. I think that all three women that you mentioned are beautiful in there own way. I just don't see their success to be all that much. I think that the only one that is truly talented is Halle Berry. Beyonce has a voice like everybody else now a days while Ms. J-lo is not that great of a singer at all to me, but it got them where they are and that is good for them.

You're absolutely right Donya. Everyone is entitled to say anything - Period. The blog family was created with the intention that no subject, opinion, view, etc. is off-color or out-of-line. That said, every now and again that rule back-fires and we get an Anonymous posting (hmmm, ain't it a blip that the ones that want to curse folks out are always anonymous) who goes off and needs someone to slap them to the floor.... As I said when I was on the receiving end of the berating - it happens. I dust my self off and keep it movin'.

I think the Anonymous posting was mean-spirited, but then again, the person posting appears to have ADD since they couldn't finish their thoughts in their second sentence.

For the record - J-Los the bomb and I will now hold a moment of silence in memory of the girls who pale in her presence.

::::: And cut, it's a wrap :::::

Blog question: Connection, chemistry between us, how we interact and how the mood or feeling is that night would determine the 1 night stand for me.

On the other note of yesterdays topic with the 3 women, my comment is as follows:

1) My hat goes off to those that make their dreams come true. I personally don't like competion and comparisons, however, the question was asked and although some may disagree with what was said there are facts and it does not necessarily stem from jealousy and although we all make our own choices and have an impact on how our lives turn out it does not mean that accomplishment is displayed only through art, singing and acting.

Remember 1 person may just be the world to one other person and that to me is success.

My point is: They are 3 women who yes have achieved a lot ok so what. Others of us have a life and don't need to always be up celebraties asses to have a life.

We all go through our stuff and because we have an opinion, which was asked, it does not mean that we are jealous or haters. Don't ask then and we won't tell u and it does not matter.

Ok I detect an attitude in your response. This goes out to all of the anonymous users on this blog. Let me tell you this. We voice our opinions on this blog without attitude. Don't come to our family trying to stir up anything or cause confusion. Plus when we voice our opinion we sign our name which should let you know that we AIN'T punks. I don't think many of you understand what type of group you have stumbled across The name should tell you (NOT SHADY, JUST FIERCE) but if you don't know you need to ask somebody.

The question was posed as "Of the three, whom do you believe is the greater success and why?" Not, "If you could knock down and drag these bitches by pointing out her negatives, what would they be?" So, you're right, your opinion was asked for, the hateration wasn't. All-in-all we appreciate both, so thanks for speakin' up. LOL... have a great weekend pumpkins.

Hector I think that we may need to find another spot. these people don't know that those that sign their name know each other and have known each other for awhile. I feel like they are starting to attack our family. Hey here is a blog question why are people nasty to those they don't even know? Are they insecure about themselves? Have the need to put others down so that they can feel better? or just downright mean and have nothing better to do with themselves? I'm sorry this is not a good week for me.

Wow, my people what has happened to all the Love and friendship that we embraced in calling this a safe place. This was home and someone let in a “distant relation”. This “distant relation” is not nice, nor do they rise out the tube after using it, smile. Anyway, we must Love them anyway, ignore them when they chew with their mount open and count the silverware before they leave.

PEACE,
J'Moo

I know...I know.. it gets crazy some days y'all... but that's what family is all about. Much love on some days and dysfunctional on others. We can't let anyone or anything to deter the mission of this forum - open communication by all. Actually, we even learn from Anonymous comments - sometimes they teach us what "not" to say. LOL

…and back to that warm fuzzy place.
In response to today’s On Blast, I look for a certain charm, charisma and the ability to look mature enough to keep intimacies to yourself. Keeping in mind that you will probably deal with this person, one way or another, later. I love to dance around the actual subject and show some modicum of class… something to the effect of, “Let’s blow this joint and have some drinks at my place.” Also, I watch for physical cues… I’m a sucker for someone’s undivided attention, so appearing interested or distracted by someone else in the joint will blow the deal before it gets started.

I don't know who the anonymous person is but I don't think they like you Caspar. But no worry we all know that whoever it is don't have balls to come forth. Is there a screening process you can apply so that not just anyone can get in Hector?

I step away for a second and you tazmanian mothers tear through this place like y'all are nuts! LOL ... I think I may have pee-peed my pants! :)

Lawd...that's what I love about my girls...you're better off tongue kissin' Satan than comin' up against them. LOL

COCOARICAN I HAVE TO AGREE WITH J'MOO IN SUGGESTING THAT MAYBE ANONYMOUS "UNSIGHNED" POSTINGS SHOULD BE REMOVED. YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU TO DEATH HC, AND WHEN YOU INVITED ME TO JOIN YOUR BLOG FAMILY I WAS HONORED BECAUSE I KNOW SOME OF THE BLOG FAMILY AND I APPROVED OF YOUR PREMISE FOR THIS BLOG.
MAYBE FOLKS ARE AFRAID TO SAY IT BUT I BELIEVE THAT "JUST ME" COMMENTS ARE OFTEN MEAN SPIRITED , MALICIOUS, AND BORDERS ON BEING SNIDE AND BITCHY. AS DONYA RIGHTLY SAID THAT IS MOT WHAT OUR FAMILY IS ABOUT. I AM NOT BEING PERSONAL, I AM BEING SPECIFIC. MAYBE THE ENTITY IN QUESTION IS TOTALLY UNAWARE THAT HE/SHE IS OVER THE TOP AMD THAT THE ATTITUDE IS ENTIRELY UNCALLED FOR, SO I AM NOW OFFICIALLY SAYING IT. LETS HAVE OPINIONS, BAD OR GOOD, BUT LETS RESPECT EACH OTHER AND HAVE SOME SEMBLANCE OF CIVILITY. ENOUGH SAID.

REGARDING TODAYS ONBLAST: ON A ONE NIGHT HOOKUP(WHICH I HAVEN'T HAD IN A GOOD MINUTE)I AM ATTRACTED TO PERSONALITY, CONVERSATION, ATTITUDE.....YOUR PERSONA HAS TO GRAB ME. THEN THERE IS THE PHYSICALITY. SINCE I AM GAY, MY HOOKUP WILL BE MALE AND IF YOU THROW IN BOOTYLICIOUS, BOTTOM AND BLATINO....I'M ON IT . CAN WE SAY "JUNITO" (FROM NOAH'S ARC)
