Morning Edition - 6/6/06 (It's 666 Y'all!)

X3; The Last Stomach Ache
Opening weekend of XMen 3; The Last Stand was a big weekend for me. My friends and I looked forward to catching up on our favorite mutant compadres for months before the May 26 release date. Unfortunately, the need to shock and surprise outweighed the need to go out on top of their game. The makers (and some of the actors) of the super human celluloid thriller trilogy have already mentioned that X3 is the final foray for the combined XMen on the big screen. Less than 30 minutes into the film and the storyline had my stomach hurting so bad I thought I would hurl. All said, the film introduces several new characters, rids-itself of old favorites and, whether you’re disgusted with the outcome or not, you’ll certainly have a jaw-dropping experience.

Boricua! Puerto Ricans Get Ready To Celebrate
With over three million spectators and hundreds-of-thousands of participants the NYC Puerto Rican Day Parade is the largest celebration for the Puerto Rican culture anywhere. This Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m., Puerto Ricans, their admirers and friends will participate in one of the Big Apple’s most festive celebrations. The parade runs from 44th to 86th Streets and Fifth Avenue.

Emotional Rollercoaster
The last two weeks have been a true emotional rollercoaster. Blame it on the weather, the running ragged or just plain hormonal imbalance, but it has been truly a battle of wills to just get out of the bed and function – hence the lack of Morning Edition postings. Fortunately, I’ve always said that this is life and not a hey ride, so I’m pushing on and am again feeling like I’m getting back in the saddle. I’m still on track with the workouts and the dating life has kept me occupied enough to say, “I really can’t complain.” So, as I gear-up to enjoy this summer I can only say, I’ll keep riding this coaster until it comes off the tracks!

On Blast
Careful what you wish for… Have you ever wished for someone to act a certain way, say certain things or simply be the way you always hoped they’d be, only to realize that their time in your life is over and nothing that transpires with them really matters? Can you catch yourself in time to recognize some moments in time can never be recaptured? Can you appreciate the people in your life for who they were and the new role they may have in your life?

Keep passin’ the open windows…

Hey Cocoa
I forgot this Sunday was PR day Cocoa!!! If you want to skip Sophia's recital and come on over for the food and cake after you go to the parade thats cool too.

Just bear in mind that no one is going to want to stay if you aren't at my house. My family loves you more than they love me
: (

And I hope my baby J'Moo is going to show up also : )

As I’ve gotten older, it’s been easier for me to accept people for who they are and what place they will have in my life. There is the occasional mental or emotional hiccup where it takes a reality check to put things back in perspective, but overall, life has taught me to accept the things (people included) I cannot change. That said, contrary to popular belief, I do believe folks can alter/change some behavior patterns and correct negative issues about their personality. This doesn’t mean that they can’t fall back into those patterns if they’re not careful. Long story short (I know, too late) it’s best to leave well enough alone. If something didn’t work in the past – barring undying and devoted love – it won’t work in the future.

Col,
I want to see the family too…. We’ll work it out.

OK COCOA...HERE'S THE THING. i AGREETHAT RECAPTURING THE PAST IS A 50/50 PROPOSITION, BUT I DISAGREE THAT IF "SOMETHING DIDN'T WORK IN THE PAST ...IT WOULDN'T WORK IN THE FUTURE" LONG STORY SHORT. I MET THIS DUDE A WHILE BACK...HYPNOTIC SEX...BUT THATS ALL IT WAS FOR ME. FOR HIM, IT WAS ROMANCE ETC. I SAW HIM AS A 22Y/O AND DIDN'T CONSIDER HIM A WORTHY INVESTMENT. I RAN INTO DUDE OVER THE HOLIDAY...STILL LOOKING HELLA HOT AND SPARKS STARTED TO FLY ALL OVER AGAIN. ITS BEEN 9YEARS...HE'S 31 AND I SEE HIM DIFFERENTLY. I'M NOT REKINDLING ANYTHING, I'M SIMPLY CONSIDERING HIM FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Kris / Just Me
I agree with both of you to a certain extent…
First, I try to consider why a relationship (friend or partner) didn’t work in the first place. Sometimes, old hurts are NOT just water under the bridge and trying to rekindle, rehash or relive something can be just a repeat performance with the kick-in-the-ass emotion that is telling yourself that you knew better. On the other hand, if you sincerely believe that you are both in at a different place in your lives and the relationship seems a worthy proposition, it may just be worth revisiting. Admittedly, I’d be cautious on rehashing any of my previous exploits, mainly because I wonder whether the love (on both ends) can overcome previous indiscretions. That said, you can never say never, but your gut feeling should prevail. Now, Kris, in the case you mentioned, there was the case of immaturity playing a part in the interaction and it sounds like the person might have grown since your toss-in-the-hey… there’s really nothing wrong with revisiting something if it ended on good terms.

Kris / Just Me / Caspar
Well Kris, if the boy seems more mature and you’re suddenly feeling like you have more than sexual feelings for him – go for it. The important thing is that the feeling is mutual and that there’s something to build on.

Just Me…. I didn’t say Kris and the boy were in a relationship and from what he initially mentioned I did get that it was merely sexual – although as he said, the boy felt more feelings for him than he did for the boy at the time. It also reeks of Alicia Keys, Diary Of Alicia Keys, Song #2 – KARMA… see lyrics below

Caspar…I can stay up or get up at whatevah time… you know how I roll!

Karma
Weren't you the one that said, that you don't want me anymore.
And how you need your space, and give the keys back to your door.
And how I cried and tried and tried to make you stay with me.
But still you said that love was gone, and that I had to leave.
Now you, talkin bout a family
Now you, sayin I complete your dream
Now you, sayin I'm your everything
You confusin me
What you say to me
Don't play with me
Don't play with me.
Cause what goes around, comes around.
What goes up, must come down.
Now who's cryin, desirin to come back to me
What goes around, comes around.
What goes up, must come down.
Now who's cryin, desirin to come back
I remember when
I was sittin home alone
Waitin for you
Til 3 o'clock in the morn
And when you came home, you'd always have some sorry excuse.
And explainin to me, like I'm just some kinda fool
I sacrifice the things I want to and do things for you
But when it's time to do for me, you never come through
Now you, wanna be a bond of me (eyyy)
Now you, have so much to say to me (heyy)
Now you, wanna make time for me
What you do to me.
You confusin me
Don't play with me
Don't play with me.
Cause what goes around, comes around.
What goes up, must come down.
Now who's cryin, desirin to come back to me
What goes around, comes around.
What goes up, must come down.
Now who's cryin, desirin to come back
I remember when
I was sittin home alone
Waitin for you
Til 3 o'clock in the morn
Night after night
Knowin sumthing goin on
Wasn't home befo me
You was,you was gone
Lord knows it wasn't easy, but believe me.
Never thought you'd be the one that would deceived me.
And never do wha u was supposed to do
No need to hose me fool, cause I'm ova you
Cause what goes around, comes around.
What goes up, must come down.
Now who's cryin, desirin to come back to me
What goes around, comes around.
What goes up, must come down.
Gotta stop tryin, to come back to me
What goes around, comes around.
What goes up, must come down.
It's called Karma baby.
And it goes around.
What goes around, comes around,
What goes up, must comes down,
Now who's cryin, desirin to come back to me
