Leaving Your Mark On The World

Leaving Your Mark On The World
If one of you %$#$% asks if this is a video of me getting ready for work, I will bust you straight in the mouth…LOL
…but seriously, I watch Paris Is Burning and Dorian Corey – one of my old, house-mother favorites - and sigh in awe of how street-smart and hard-lived they were; seems like they did leave some of us with some great words of wisdom. Her take on each of us leaving our mark on the world by just getting through it was one of those priceless pearls of wisdom.

On Blast
Long after you’re gone, what do you want folks to remember about you?

Keep passin’ the open windows…

That's my favorite party of the movie...it's the signature on my personal email.

I want people to remember me as someone who tried to make the world a little better...and who was always himself. I want people to say....hooray for you! Luv!!!

So funny that I was going to ask if that was you getting ready for a night out.

Seriously, how funny is it that I have been contemplating exactly what mark I will leave on the world, if I was to past away. I actually contemplate it alot, the older I get. I comtemplate leaving the force and emerging myself, full force, into my art and into my craft; to see if I can make it.

I would love to be remember for my art, but also for being an honest and loving person.

I was just talking with my coworker about this.

I would hope people would remember me as genuinely kind, down-to-earth person who treated others the way he wanted to be treated (by being reliable and helping them in time of need).

I would like to be remembered as the woman with the foot that kept growing back.

Just the profound pearl of wisdom I needed this morning.

I've seen this countless times, but its never had as much impact as when separated from the entire gem that is Paris is Burning.

Shining a light on this single pearl made my day -- hell, my week, and is the perfect launching point for a momentus year.

Was anyone else deeply inspired by that?

Cocoa...you know that shit is you...pero donde esta tu accento?

LOL

Anyway - this was hot. But I want folks to remember my smothered chicken. I know it sounds ridiculous - but I'm serious about that.

Darius,

Not ridiculous at all. You invite us over to taste your smothered chicken and we'll do our best to immortalize it.

But we gotta eat it first. ;-)

Joey...hooray for you...LOL...meeting you just one weekend solidified your wish.

One Man...let me find out...if I don't get that "refresh" soon, I'll really look like that as I get ready to head out for a night with the boyz.

Jersey...just making a genuine effort to be it and do it make all the difference.

Cas..you know I know.

Taylor! Boy, we really need to get together this year. We actually know each other since this movie was released...goodness...we're actually walking down memory lane when we watch this. Have a blessed 2009!

D - you're a go-getter, so whether it's your cooking or your ability to be present and supportive to those around you will be your token to living forever in our minds and hearts.
