Pride; A Deeper Love
With my trip home (Puerto Rico) on Monday, I’m feeling tons of Puerto Rican pride. I’m always amazed at how my culture will celebrate every win to no end. When Zuleyka Rivera won Ms. Universe in 2006, there was a national holiday on the island the next day. Call it finding a reason to take a day off or savoring every success collectively.

On Blast
What was your most proud cultural moment? Why?

Keep passin’ the open windows…

My most proud cultural moment? When the U.S. Government finally (FINALLY) gave the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor to the (surviving) Tuskeegee Airmen just a few months ago. My grandfather was among that elite group of men. I am so proud of what he contributed to our history. :)

When Bahamians take to the streets during Junkanoo...so see the hundreds of costumes, and the music, the crowds rocking...it is an amazing experience...

Also, when hurricanes hit the islands and people come out in support of each other. That also makes me proud. ..

When it happens I'll let you know!

Naw, but for real, maybe the Million Man March in 1995. I was a kid then, but something like that was amazing, just wish it could happen again, but nothing on that magnitude can ever be repeated and have as much impact.

COME ON DOWN!
Hey, I've told my friends that they're welcome to meet me there at any point during my 8 days on the island.
Just bring a bikini, some condoms and Alleve.

Good time... weather is good. Two issues I have...
1. It's warm in the states too...it's best to go get some heat when it's cold here
2. Kids are out of school in PR and the beaches get more crowded

However, this year I attended San Juan Brothas for Memorial Weekend and enjoyed two of my favorites - My homeland and black men! LOL

No reason to be proud. This culture can be gone today, I won't miss it.
