Morning Edition - 2/13/08

On Blast
The concept of an all-giving, self-less love is almost unheard of. Outside of the stories of desperate moms placing themselves in peril for their children or the odd sibling that finds themselves caught between pushing their loved one out of the way of danger only to find they’re in the path of harm, it’s hard to find instances when we would (without a second thought) place ourselves in harm’s way.

What story of love that places itself in harms way has stayed with you?

Keep passin’ the open windows…

I know this is sad - but honestly, I don't even have one. Can you believe it? That's right - no story that sticks w/me...my past is jacked up!

I don't know if I've experienced something quite this extreme, but I definitely have had a few family members who have sacrifice for me.

Well, we could have been related if you had only married my sister. But as fate would have it, she wasnt your type! Hahahahahahahaha.

Some of the best times in my life were spent with you; rollerskating, indicting innocent bystanders, throwing brown bags full of dog feces at the neighborhood pedophiles, playing handball outside of my window, driving around in your uncles tank avoiding being nailed by the po-po, snowball fights with the untouchables across the street, flinging Noreen down the hill, harassing Jane and John in the candy store, walking to the Botanical Gardens and the Bronx Zoo because we had nothing better to do, running to the rescue of every neighborhood stray animal.

When I think of LOVE, I think of my lifelong best friend. I would take a hit for you anyday. Can hardly wait to wreak havic on th nursing home.

Happy Valentines Day to ALL.

I honestly can't think of a situation that called for me to put myself in harm's way in the name of love. That's sad. :-(

You said a mother's love for a child. You never said the inverse! My mother was in dire need of medical attention and it was life or death situation. I managed to support most of her weight (must I say backache?) and get her into my car. I sped her to the hospital running every single light and stop sign between my house and the hospital. All i wanted was help for my mother. I thought of nothing else. (this puts both of us in danger, but hey!) Its the only thing I have...
