Morning Edition - 2/3/06

Great Scott! The Straight-Line Tour
The King family announced that the body of Coretta Scott King will be viewed at the Georgia Capital Rotunda on Saturday, followed by a viewing at the Ebenezer Baptist Church on Monday – King’s church - and finally at New Birth Missionary Baptist church on Tuesday, where the youngest daughter Bernice is a minister. The final resting place for Coretta has not been disclosed, but insiders say she would likely be buried at the South-View Cemetery in Atlanta. South-View was founded by former slaves in 1886 and once had the body of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. before it was moved to a crypt at the King Center near Ebenezer Baptist Church. The family requested that all donations be made in Coretta’s name to Antioch College in Ohio where she graduated.

Maroon Tonight; An End of An Era
Tonight an intimate group of Freakin’ Rican aka Annette R.’s friends will join her at Maroon for a dinner celebrating the end of her thirties. Freakin’ turned 39. Reservations are for 7 p.m. Scheduled to join are Carmen C. and partner; Juana E.; Krissy, Caspar and myself. A great mix of partygoers to send-off the thirties with flavor!

Long Story Short
Sara R. celebrated her 31st birthday yesterday and Evelyn C. celebrates her 39th tomorrow. Happy birthday to both! Superbowl party on Sunday… boys get ready to rumble, then get ready to tumble… it’s that kind-of party. It’s a boyz-only party, so leave the wifey at home! LOL.

On Blast
Thank you; Now Shut Up! Gays in the U.S. military must still maintain the greatest covert operation in their private lives. Is it fair to fight and die for your country and not be openly gay in the military? Are our military policies regarding sexual orientation out-dated and unnecessary? Would the acceptance of openly gay men/women in the military threaten military operations? What’s the T.?

Keep passin’ the open windows…

If gays can maintain decorum in the military I don't see why they can't be open. Decorum being standards of behavior and dress. The last thing I need is to have Shaquita-Shawn Brown staring me down in the shower or Queen Mary dressing up for her date and we sharing rooms.

I am not saying that ALL gays have the desire to convert straight men/women but a good 80% love to look at you with watering mouths. That's why I do the gym thing late, it appears to be a feasting ground. That is more embarrassing then anything so, if they can maintain decorum, I have no problem but, I don't feel that I have be subjected to nasty behavior because they have no rules to follow.

Do you see how ignante our world is? They are fighting for the freedom of our Country! What different does it make if you are gay or straight! You are willing to put your life on the line to keep this country safe and free. If you want to stand up and say you are gay and proud of it then so be it. Anyway, I truly believe our gov't tries to control all of us with stupid laws that are not necessary. Grant it we need the laws to keep order otherwise people be running a muck! But when it comes to the military and the position with gay men and woman GIVE IT A BREAK ALREADY!

ENOUGH SAID!

Men (meaning men and women) will become lovers of themselves instead of lovers of God. We should be living life according to God and not ourselves. The bible is our manual shouldnt we respect it but most importantly follow it? Shouldnt we try and live our lives accordingly. Everything has a manual and so does the way we are suppose to live. Think about it people. I know we are not perfect, but shouldnt we try to live as though we are or at least try? Would it be too much of a sacrifice? What will be our explanation to God?

Several other countries – the UK, Israel and even Canada – allow openly gay men and women in their military and have reported no disruption in their ranks. Moreover, it’s silly to say to someone, we’ll accept you as part of the team, as long as you never mention being gay. Gays have shared living quarters and intimate space with their straight counterparts since birth – school showers, dorm rooms, even room mate situations – and are accustomed to seeing and dealing with naked bodies. It’s as though we’ve been conditioned to place a sexual context to a naked body when appropriate. If you placed a straight man in a woman’s locker room from birth and conditioned him to respect his environment he would eventually become desensitized to the environment – the same applies to gays. Just Me…You must be really HOT shyt if 80% of the gay men you come across have watering mouths when looking at you. I suspect your statistics are a bit skewed by delusions of grandeur or wishful thinking. The truth is, there are pervs in the straight and gay arenas and unfortunately gay pervs have better access to the object of their attention when visiting gyms, etc. As a gay man who has yet to have his mouth water fantasizing about some inaccessible straight man, I suggest doing what I do at the gym – work out; use a towel when removing your underwear; wear that towel when returning to your locker from the shower; put on your underwear with the towel still around your waist; get dressed and get the f*ck out. Maybe if you spend less time trying to tease the men around you and waiting for their “mouth-watering-reactions” you may find that it’s not as common place as you so carefully examined.

Hey Everyone,

Gay, Straight, or BI, I'm not so sure that sexual orientation or sexual desires should be an issue when you are at work doing your job. I'm not saying denounce who you are but I think your personal life is just that, personal. If you have a group of friends that you share things with then by all means, tell them who you are and be yourself. But in the presence of your boss, I can;t see how assert your sexual independence is a good thing.

We all know that there is an invisible line of appropriate behavior in corporate America and that line shouldn't be crossed for ANYONE period - no matter who you choose to love.

AS it realtes specifically to the military, I personally could care less what your orientation is. You are doing a noble job and protecting our nation so whatever makes you happy in your personal life is between you and you mate.

If you can kick the Talibans ass into 2008 and be gay more power to all of us.

I think the powers that be have deemed homosexuality as a "weakness" or a distraction for our enemies. Like they don't want the kids in the sandbox to make fun of us wha! wha!. Whatever man, gay men are some of the most viscious ninja quentim tarantino soldiers in the world. And I wouldn't even want to come against a lesbian during PMS.

Look its bad enough that our military is not paid adequately and some need food stamps to feed their families (which is disgraceful)...the whole "don't ask don't tell" thing is just stupid. Why would anyone want to run around and scream about their personal life when they should be plotting and planning and training to sneak up on Osama to cut his jugular. We have bigger terrorists to fry than worry about whether someone is gay or straight.

And as far as the Bible being an instruction manual is concerned...I agree...but Christ is Redeemer so if at first you don't succeed try and try again. We are all sinners anonymous and Jesus loves us anyway.

Cocoa Crazy Rican,

I'll take your suggestion, just hope that I never see you in the gym because the will be seeing "Strange Fruit" hanging from the locker and thanks for the confirmation of what I see in the gym. Evidently, you experience or know of the situation.

Cocoa CrazyRican

I don't preceive myself to be all that. I have to maintain the me that I have. Thanks for the confirmation on the gym thing, so if is not just me.

If I ever see you in my gym there will be a "Strange Fruit" hanging from the locker trees.

The cruising and gawking certainly does happen in the gym locker and shower areas, but in my experience it tends to be the same “pressed” and desperate pervs doing it. I (and most my other gay brethren) prefer to hit the gym to make our bodies “hang-out” ready, rather than attempting to catch a cheap glance in a locker room. Just Me… I’ll need to have an interpreter relay what you said, but I assure you that running into me in the locker room would be the highlight of your day. It’s also my experience that straight men do plenty of looking themselves, since it’s a perfect way to gauge their own size and appearance. Do me a favor, explain… what the heck is “strange fruit” hanging from the “locker trees”? My biggest suggestion to all gay (open & closeted) military personnel would be to withdraw from the armed forces until open equality is reached. This way we can realize the true impact and contribution of gays in the military.

"Stranger Fruit" comes from a song about the hanging and burning of Blacks in the deep south.

Today has been a VERY busy day and I couldn't quality check my work....Since your NOT black or from the south.....I understand your ignorance.

i just don't get your ignorance "just me". couldn't we just, for once, have an intelligent discourse with out it being about you.?

caspar608 said...

f*c* what you heard. its ALL about ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

love you caspar608...

KrisAlmighy,

You can have all the discourse you want but, until you understand how things change you'll always be lost.

Why do you think we have "Don't ask, Don't Tell"? This is what the powers that be can live with at this time. Just because you accept or don't accept doesn't mean that everyone will follow you.

People must feel comfortable in any position that they are working. I don't see anything wrong with asking for decorum and professionalism in the work place. If we didn't have rules and regulations you might be tempted to wear nasty pants to the workplace.

You will NEVER be able to sway me into thinking that all gays will go to work with repect.....

If your comment is in reference to my comment to Cocoa, It's not my fault that your ignorance overrides your intelligence...
