Morning Edition - 3/10/07

I Am Ready For Love
India Arie

I am ready for love
Why are you hiding from me
I'd quickly give my freedom
To be held in your captivity

I am ready for love
All of the joy and the pain
And all the time that it takes
Just to stay in your good grace
Lately I've been thinking
Maybe you're not ready for me
Maybe you think I need to learn maturity
They say watch what you ask for
Cause you might receive
But if you ask me tomorrow
I'll say the same thing

I am ready for love
Would you please lend me your ear?
I promise I won't complain
I just need you to acknowledge I am here

If you give me half a chance
I'll prove this to you
I will be patient, kind, faithful and true
To a man who loves music
A man who loves art
Respect's the spirit world
And thinks with his heart

I am ready for love
If you'll take me in your hands
I will learn what you teach
And do the best that I can

I am ready for love
Here with an offering of
My voice
My Eyes
My soul
My mind

Tell me what is enough
To prove I am ready for love

I am ready

On Blast
So I am in one of those odd emotional states… I’ve been listening to India Arie’s Ready for Love on repeat for an hour and feeling kind-of ho-hum. Yeah, it’s just this kind-of hormonal imbalance that will have a brotha one Martini in the wind, on a corner-stool-in-a-bar breakdown.

Do you have days when you’re tired of being strong and resilient and just want to crumble into someone’s arms while listening to a romantic ballad?

Keep passin’ the open windows…

Yesterday’s blast: Ms. Head and Shoulders is my pick too; now for today's blast; Yes! Honey!!!!! Now you get it! And now is when you will find Love. You most surrender to Love.It is just like having an orgasm; head back, muscles jumping, sweat dripping, eyes shut, teeth clenched, soul opened and your heart beating so fast, rapid and hard that the other person can feel it within touching you…
And that is how it will feel when your eyes meet and you just first shake hands. Go fall in Love boi, it’s about time, it’s about right and it’s all about you.

I definitely have days when I long for an embrace. Songs like that are wonderful and horrible for the same reason.

It's scary how our emotions/heart issues are so parallel...I was listening to this same (SAME!!!) song just yesterday...on repeat. And to answer your question...YES. I get tired of being the strong one who always gets thru my shyt regardless of how difficult and how often life throws curveballs at me. I'm truly okay being single and alone and not looking...but damn it would be so nice to crumble in a safe pair of arms once in a while...*sigh* Love you boo!

I definitely feel you on this. I was in that state all last week and have been listening to Luther's "Wait for Love" on repeat for the last 2 days.

My Goodness guys! Spring is right around the corner and before you know it this solemn state that everyone is in will soon be over. After experiencing beautiful weather over the weekend, I was playing was (don't laugh) - "All I want for Christmas is You" by Mariah. I still love that album and the songs just get me going, esp when doing some housework. Then I popped in Deborah Cox's remix album and that just made the day a bit sweeter. "How Did you Get Here" and "Things Just Ain't the Same" and some other songs just a wide smile on my face.
Shake the winter blues off and perk up for the beautiful weather that's about to come our way. Let the songs have the same uplifting vibe too! PAP

Actually...Ruben's Blow Ya Mind is HOTTTT! But, my repeat song is Donny Hathaway's "A Song For You!"
