On Blast
The passing of Phyllis Hyman left me in shock and I remember feeling a sense of loss – not only the physical loss of an amazing artist, but the realization of how her voice had touched my life. Some of her songs still hold a bookmark in my life. Last night as I was trying to sit through some mindless television, I came across the Last Days of Lisa Left Eye from the group TLC. I was saddened at how fragile physical life can be.
What deceased artist still brings you to a special bookmark in your life?

I've never recovered from the death of Michael Landon aka Pa Ingalls. He was my Daddy when I didn't have one around.
Phyllis Hyman was murdered, as was Lisa Lopes....
As far as Aaliyah is concerned, honey was too busy worrying about getting back to lying cheating woman beating Dame Dash to exercise any common sense thus packing her small private plane with her makeup guy and hair guy and bodyguard and other poor unfortunate souls like she was getting ready to dodge border patrol, thus her demise was due to lack of common sense all together.
I can't help but get teary eyed when I hear Luther. Did y'all know Laura Branigan died too?
Thats all that comes to mind right now....
I wonder who gets it next....?(insert sinister music here)

Mr. Vandross- I miss him so much. I learn how to make love while listening to his music. It made it so much nicer.
I have yet to see the Left Eye piece I'm gonna have to check it out.
Luther Vandros touched me in ways that no other artist (except Mary J) has. Just listening to him sing, I could tell that he really wanted someone to love and someone to love him.
Now how many of us can relate to that?
Billie Holiday. her life just seemed like a never ending series of bad things.sometimes it's too painful to listen to her. she just seems like someone who never had someone appreciate her, especially herself.
on the flip side, Alice Coltrane made me wish she was my mother. that womans arrangements and peace mentality made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
Donny Hathaway..
